Finally, Amazon has removed a long-awaited restriction on eBooks. For years, they have only offered their eBook purchases to open with their proprietary Kindle devices in their format. At the end of February, Amazon lessened the reins, following industry peer pressure, and now allows PDF/EPUB format downloads if the author elects to allow it.
So, good news for any of you Amazon eBook customers: If you previously purchased Room By Roomon Amazon as an eBook, I’ve enabled PDF download, so you can now transfer your digital copy to any device.

I’ve just about wrapped up getting release forms signed for Around Town for multiple design-inclusions from LEGO community creators worldwide (including France, Germany, Canada, and the US). I’m also excited to be collaborating with a few new vendors for Around Town, like StudBee.com (👈Check ’em out!).
Photo Edits: Progress
Even though I hired a graphic design artist to help me slog through the many edits I need to make (~360 images), progress does feel different than that of Room By Room. Mostly, because some content (models) are still being created as I develop the book. There are gaps in subject areas that make it hard to flow easily from page to page (but they are getting filled!) Currently, Jesse from Brickdesigned is working on playground equipment. Take a look at this beauty.
This model took time to design, it takes time to photograph, it takes time to build instructions, and it takes time to squeeze it in between the merry-go-round and the jungle-gym on the page! There are going to be ~300 designs like this in Around Town, each one with the same level of patience and care. The book is shaping up to be about 140-160 pgs with 75%+ of the instructions provided, just as the first book in the series.
Make & Takes
Amidst writing another book, I am also still promoting the first one! I’ve been busy in February, squirreling away 75-150 make & take kits for upcoming workshops I am hosting in the coming months (more below). Thank goodness I live two mins away from MadhouseOfBricks.com
Book Signing Events & Workshops
Places I will be! Looking forward to seeing you if you’re in these areas: 😎
I envision waiting for Around Town to come out must be like waiting for a bus. You never really know when it’ll show up! So, I made a little graphic to at least guide us on the route it’ll take. I hope you enjoy watching its progress as much as I do. And in case you’re wondering, I’m measuring the back of the bus crossing the “STOP” line as making it to “Publish St.”! 😅
